The search goes on for my next pick on my musical tour of Europe, I couldn’t resist this though. I had not heard of the Chanson style of music before starting this exploration of European music. Jacques Brel was a Belgian singer songwriter and is widely considered to be a master of this genre, he is the third best-selling Belgian artist of all time. He was a major influence on performers such as David Bowie, Alex Harvey, Leonard Cohen and Marc Almond. He was also a succesful actor appearing in ten French language movies.
